Revolution Plates

By Małgorzata Rumińska

“Lately I’ve become pretty frustrated with the whole socio-economic situation in the world. We have a fascist running the US, Palestinians and Ukrainians are getting murdered in plain sight, my country has galloping inflation and a housing crisis, corporations are accumulating profit by exploiting workers - I could go on and on. I feel helpless; I’ve attended protests, signed petitions, sent financial aid, and I feel like it’s only getting worse. So I decided to transfer my emotions onto ceramics, to make a contemporary, rebellious version of decorative wall plates. I know it’s just some art, it won’t rescue the victims, I feel guilty that I should do more than this... but writing those slogans gave me a spark of strength to keep going and fighting the oppressors. I’d like to encourage others to keep going too.”
