Photographer Rebecca Heeke Explores Beauty Standards & The Female Experience

Rebecca Heeke, of Richmond, VA, attended VCUArts from 2020-2024, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Photography.

“I created these images in 2024 to capture my experience as a fashion model and the small glimpse I had into the fashion world. As well as an observation as to how beauty standards affected women around me. These images are partially hypothetical,” she said.

“In these images, I explore the effects of beauty standards by unraveling the threads of consumerism and hyper-sexualization. My goal is to further question how these expectations can influence female presenting bodies.”
