A Word From the Artist

“Eating My Dreams” explores all stages of the self throughout the navigation of past, present, and future as a marginalized person, specifically focusing on the idea of consumption and recycling personal dreams to balance realistic compromise and ideal aspiration.

Adaptation is inevitable and yet especially underrepresented within the context of marginalized communities who are forced into boxes and must take change into their hands. Though approached through an introspective, personal lens into my own experience with change and dreams in a particularly rural community, this piece speaks to a broader experience on the topic for historically disempowered people on various paths of life.
